Spanish champions Real Madrid are reportedly trying to get David Beckham back at the Bernabeu in a £10 million transfer deal with Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS.
Florentino Perez, who is the favourite to win the ongoing presidential elections at the club, says that if he wins he will try to bring Beckham back. Everyone knows that he’s a big fan of David and will reach out to any lengths to get the player.
Perez was the person who lured away David from Manchester United in 2003, in a deal estimated to be £24 million.
The newspaper claims a top Madrid source said: ”Florentino will try to bring Becks back if he decides to run for the presidency. It would be silly to deny it.”
Beckham is currently on loan to Italian club AC Milan where he is due to remain till the season ends. He was scheduled to return to Los Angeles on March 9th, but after Milan expressed its strong desire to keep Beckham at the club for a longer time (hell… they wanted a complete transfer!), David consulted MLS and made an announcement on March 8th to extend his stay till July 18th.
The announcement made sure Beckham is not keen on playing in the MLS anyways… but it also sent the signal that Galaxy will not let go of him in a regular transfer deal, as Milan had pushed them very hard, but they wouldn’t buzz.
The news has come in the wake of former Real president Ramon Calderon making sure that a plan is in place to try to get Christiano Ronaldo to play for Madrid. The transfer window is certainly going to show up some surprises for sure during these elections!
