Brian Bosworth, The Boz, the former NFL football player, as he is still known to many, is in the news today because of his DUI arrest in Los Angeles. Interestingly, he was not driving a car, but riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Initially, he was pulled over by officers on Hollywood Boulevard because he did not have a license plate on the motorcycle. When officers detected alcohol on his breath he was given, and failed, the breathalyzer. At 3:00 a.m. he was arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and later released on $5,000 bail.
As a biography, Brian Bosworth, The Boz, was born on March 9, 1965 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma so his age is 43. He attended MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas. He was a student at The University of Oklahoma, where he had an outstanding college football career as a linebacker. He won two Butkus Awards as the nation’s top college linebacker and is the only college player in history to have won the award more than once.
He became known for his radical behavior , hairstyles and clothing styles. As a perennial critic of the NCAA, he famously referred to the organization as “National Communists Against Athletes” and even wore a shirt with that slogan during the 1987 Orange Bowl.
His NFL career began in 1987 when he signed what was, at that time, both the biggest contract in team history and the biggest rookie contract in NFL history (10 years for $11 million) and played for the Seattle Seahawks.
