Former college football player Maurice Clarett is blogging from the prison. Clarett’s blog called The Mind of Maurice Clarett is a very interesting read and has been making quite a number of headlines off lately.
“I had a chance to get outside and run sprints on the track today. It felt so good to feel the fresh air. The facility does not have windows in the cell that I can open, so I don’t get a chance to feel nature that often during the winter months. Today was an exception though.”
You can check out the blog at http://mauriceclarett.wordpress.com.
Clarett is currently serving time at Toledo Correctional Institution after being convicted of robbery and other charges. He was caught carrying an illegal weapon without permit and was sent to prison in 2006.
Now, even I was surprised that the inmates are allowed computer access inside the prison but it was later confirmed by an official that he calls his mother about the content and then she publishes it. Well, if I’m not mistaken, it will go on for the next five years.
Many people had also speculated that it’s a fake one but then his identity was confirmed.
“Ghost writer, huh? Thanks for the “backhanded compliment.” It is ALL Maurice Clarett, one letter at a time, one word at a time, one sentence at a time. One conscious thought and one inspirational quote at a time.”
The former freshman star player, who led the Buckeyes to the 2002 National Championship title, hopes that his blog will inspire others about the mistakes he did. He is also taking courses from Ohio University and is interested in public speaking after his release.
