Juan knocked out American Juan Diaz to claim two world lightweight titles yesterday night at Houston’s Toyota Center. The win now provides him the credibility to request a rematch with Manny Pacquiao, a fight which if held, will be one of the biggest this year.

‘I’ve been trying to get a third fight with Manny Pacquiao, but he doesn’t want to fight me’ Marquez said. ‘So I’m calling out the best, and that’s Floyd Mayweather’, he said in a report by Yahoo news.

As a biography, Juan Manuel Márquez was born on August 23, 1973, in Mexico City so his age is 35. He is the brother of Rafael Márquez, a former world champion in the bantamweight division.

Juan made his professional debut at the age of 19 and lost his first fight to Javier Duran but he didn’t lose one again for the next six years. He also won the NABO featherweight title in 1997. He won the WBA featherweight title in 2003 beating Derrick Gainer.

Marquez is famous for his two fights with Filipino Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao-Marquez I was a drawn bout with controversial scores and the second one was won by Pacquiao in highly disputed conditions, winning the Super Featherweight Championship. A third fight is a possibility if the Filipino boxer agrees.

Juan is the current Ring Magazine lightweight champion.

I understand you want to try and provide a “broad” scope here – bad pun intended. But do a little background research first so you don’t look like a dumb broad. Marquez’s win over Diaz last night earned him the “credibility” to request a fight with Pacquiao? Really? I thought he earned it by virtue of his first two fights with Pac Man, since most people feel he won one, if not both.

Marquez deserve 3rd fight against Pacquiao. But he can’t claim that even he deserve that because he’s on the GBP stable, maybe he should move to Top Rank and after that, Arum will give the fight to him, 99.9%
