Meet Brandon Jacobs, an American professional football player who plays as a running back for the New York Giants of NFL. See photos, video and a biography of Brandon Jacobs here.
Brandon was re-signed by the Giants for a contract-extension of four years. The deal, worth $25 million, will include $13 million in guarantees and will keep the 1,000-yard running back away from being a free agent.
“I was confident all along that this was going to get done I didn’t panic one bit,” Jacobs said in a statement released by the team. “I know the reason we did it the way we did; I knew I was going to be here. I was super-confident and I am here. I’m happy about it.”
As a biography, Brandon Jacobs was born on July 6, 1982 in Napoleonville, Louisiana so his age is 26. He attended the University of Southern Illinois and completed 992 yards with 16 touchdowns during the 2004 season. He was not that known during the college career but he impressed the scouts during the 2005 East-West Shrine Game and was chosen by the Giants in the 2005 draft as the 110th overall pick.
Brandon made power running back Eddie George as his idol going into the 2006 season. He started with the team in 2007 following the retirement of Tiki Barber but got injured in only his first match. Returning four weeks later, he ran for 100 yards and completed a touchdown against the Jets to announce his arrival. He finished the season with over 1000 yards and four touchdowns, powering the Giants into the Super Bowl Championship win.
He underwent a wrist surgery in 2008 and finished the season with 1089 yards, becoming only the fifth pair of teammates with Derrick Ward, to have completed 1000-yards each.
Jacobs is called the ‘Earth’ in the Giants running back trio “Earth, Wind, & Fire”, along with Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw.
