Meet Siohvaughn Wade, who is the wife of Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade and is currently in the middle of divorce proceedings. Siohvaughn had filed a bitter STD claim in her divorce statement and Dwyane is now suing her as well as two of her lawyers for the allegation. See photos, video and a biography of Siohvaughn Wade here.
Siohvaughn had earlier claimed that Dwyane infected her with an an unspecified sexually transmitted disease due to one of his many extra-marital affairs. She also went at the length of legally asking him to name all his sexual partners during the six years of the couple’s marriage. She had later withdrawn the case for unknown reasons.
However, Dwyane chose the same legal way to counterattack and has now sued her for defaming his character and causing immense amount of ‘humiliation and embarrassment’ and is seeking $50,000 in damages.
“It has been difficult to see false allegations, rumors and gossip repeatedly discussed in public about my personal life,” Dwyane Wade said in a statement released to the AP. “I had no other choice but to file this action in order to clear my name.”
Wade’s life has been a tabloid story ever since the divorce proceedings began and it is going to stretch even more now.
“Mr. Wade has been the victim of a reckless campaign by Siohvaughn Wade and her lawyers to publicly humiliate him and damage his reputation,” Joe Power, an attorney representing the Heat player, said. “To clear the public record from these false and malicious allegations, we have filed a defamation suit in court … and will seek appropriate compensation for damages.”
As a biography, Siohvaughn Wade is 26 years old and has been with Dwyane since high school. It is surprising to say that they are now going through such a bitter divorce because they had started dating as teens and have been together for a long time.
Dwyane played for Marquette University, led them to the Final Four and was then drafted as the 5th overall pick in 2003 to become a big NBA star and one of the most-promising young players. Siohvaughn had been a good support system for him and enjoyed the success and admiration that her husband got both in US and abroad. As she pointed out in a December 2006 interview:
“People are very, very excited for him. But I think that is more from the children. I think adults that see this and have children are inspired. I hear adults all the time telling their son or daughter, “See you can do it, you can make it.” He is kind of the light that shines in a dark place.”
The couple got married on 18th May 2002 and have two sons.
