Meet Kayla Oberg, a gorgeous brunette Phoenix Suns Dancer who is featured in the 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. See photos, video and a biography of the head-turning beauty here.
Kayla Oberg has been with the Phoenix Suns dancers for four years and, as one of the 10 NBA dancers selected for the issue, she has not gone unnoticed to say the least. Go here to see 31 photos of the bikini-clad beauty in white knee high boots in the SI Swimsuit Issue 2009 (whose cover model is Israeli model Bar Refaeli). The photographs were taken by John Peden in New York City. The swimsuit is by Delfina and features the Suns’ purple and orange colors.
As a biography, Kayla Oberg is from Gilbert, Arizona where she still resides. Her age is 22 and she is five-foot-two. She is of Irish, Swedish and German heritage and has dark brown hair and blue eyes. As a child, she was a member of former Phoenix Suns Dancer Amy Mickelson’s (wife of Phil Mickelson) dance class and she aspired to become one of the dancers.
She has achieved that goal and, as mentioned, she has been with the Suns Dancers for four years. She also works as a make-up artist; she does the make-up for the dancers’ photo shoots. She also works as a nanny. She was the cover model on the premiere issue of the Suns Dancers Calendar, presented by Verve! which was just released in December 2008. She is set to perform with the Suns Dancers during NBA All-Star 2009 in Phoenix.
Regarding the SI Swimsuit issue, Kayla Oberg said she felt honored while at the same time, found it somewhat overwhelming.
“It’s kind of nerve-racking,” she said. “Because in my interview they asked me how it would feel to have your picture seen by 50 to 150 million people….My heart dropped,” she said. “What did I get myself into?”
The photo shoot took place in New York and Kayla Oberg, along with the other SI Swimsuit issue models, had her choice of three to five swimsuits. Each model was given the chance to reveal as little or as much as she felt comfortable with. She found the other participating models very helpful and supportive; they kept in touch with each other throughout the day by sending group emails.
“All of the girls were super-sweet,” Kayla said. “That’s always a good feeling when you’re at a photo shoot in your swimsuit. It’s nice to feel comfortable about who you’re with.”
Sorry, guys. Kayla Oberg is married. Her hobbies include working out, scrapbooking and going to the movies.
