Looks like you’ll have to go for the official Super Bowl Halftime show, featuring Bruce Springsteen, as the alternative show, popularly known as the Lingerie Bowl, has been canceled yet again. Lingerie Bowl VI will not be taking place because of some nudist issues concerning the players.
“The league will not place our fans, players, staff nor partners in a less-than-comfortable environment that would ultimately jeopardize the mainstream perception and reputation of the brand that so many have worked diligently over these past five years to build,” the Lingerie Football League spokesman Stephon McMillen said.
The show was supposed to be held at the luxury Caliente nudist resort in Pasco County. Apparently, some players declined to participate at the ‘clothing-optional’ resort. There were also some complaints by the neighbors of the area.
“Caliente is a luxury clothing-optional resort. We ran into conflicts with the Lingerie Football League wanting more areas of our resort restricted to clothing required than we could accommodate.”
Reports had started to come pretty early about the popular pay-per-view show being in trouble. But, everybody thought the troubles were over after the new location was finalized. Looks like there was more to it than just the location.
Lingerie Bowl has enjoyed a good amount of success since its inception in 2004. It has featured celebrities like model/actress Jenny McCarthy, former Chicago Bears All-Pro quarterback Jim McMahon, Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson, pop icon Dennis Rodman and model Traci Bingham, playing football in shorts and sports bras.
