Catriona shot three-under-par 69 on the second day to win the 36-hole inaugural HSBC LPGA Brazil Cup. Her victory was very special as she is five-months pregnant and still defeated some of the top players like Kristy McPherson and Angela Park.
“When you play well you don’t feel tired,” Matthew said. “Maybe tomorrow I will feel it a bit.”
As a biography, Catriona Matthew was born on 25 August, 1969 in Edinburgh so her age is 39. She started out pretty early in the game and had a hugely successful junior career. She was the 1986 Scottish Girls champion and won the British Amateur title in 1993. She was also a part of the British Curtis Cup team in 1990, 1992 and 1994.
Matthew turned professional in 1995 after finishing fifth in the 1994 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. She won the 2001 Cup Noodles Hawaiian Ladies Open and the 2004 Wendy’s Championship. Her best performances also include finishing third in the 2001 British Open. Catriona is a member of the Ladies European Tour and won the 1996 Australian Ladies Open. She was a member of the 1998 Solheim Cup Team.
She represented Scotland at the 2005 and 2006 Women’s Golf World Cup and is currently ranked 19th in the world.
In her personal life, Catriona is married to her caddy Graeme and the couple have a daughter.
