Meet Abby Waner, an American professional basketball player who plays for the Duke University as a guard. Waner is said to be one of the best scorers that ever attended Duke and is also a gold medalist for USA Basketball. See a video and a biography of Abby Waner here.
Abby served as the sideline reporter for ESPN during the Blue Devil’s Saturday victory over Maryland at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Waner is a part of ESPNU Campus Connection and has also interned at the network last summer.
As a biography, Abby Waner was born on October 31, 1986, in Engelwood, Colorado so her age is 22. Her father, Tim Waner, played baseball for the Yankees. When in high school, she was named the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Girls High School Athlete of the Year in 2006.
Waner has been a Colorado Player of the Year and was named to first team All-America. In her freshman year at Duke, she had a record five three-pointers against Colorado State and was one of the just two players in the ACC to register over 100 assists. She earned the ESPN Magazine Academic honors the following year and was nominated for the National Player of the Year. Abby was a leading member of the gold-winning US team at the 2007 U21 World Championships in Moscow.
