Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand will be launching the first issue of his own internet magazine, Rio, next month. The aptly titled magazine will be run in collaboration with digital magazine publisher Made Up Media and will feature all the pop culture stories on sport, music, fashion, film and TV, amongst other things.
The magazine, which will be called Rio, will be a 24-page digital magazine, targeting 16-35 year old males.
The magazine will be free and distributed to an estimated database in excess of 500,000. The magazine will be available at www.RioFerdinand.com, where there will be an email opt-in to receive the magazine.
Ferdinand will be the editor-in-chief and the first issue will reportedly feature some exclusive interviews of rapper 50 Cents and Golden Globe winner actor Mickey Rourke.
It is interesting to see the entrepreneurial skills of the defender who is also the executive co-producer of a gangster-based movie set in Manchester and London. The movie called Dead Man Running will be released on November 9th this year and will star Danny Dyer and James Curtis.
