McLaren boss Ron Dennis has been accused of being a racist and ‘insensitive’ to Islamic religious believes by a former employees of one of his companies. It was revealed that Dennis used to washed his hands after shaking hands with Arabs and discriminated the concerned employee on the basis of sexual orientation.
Peter Boland, who was fired from his job as a steward on Ron’s private jet, now appeals to an employment tribunal.
‘He came onboard and was offered a drink. Ron said he did not want a drink. Ron said he wanted to go to the bathroom to wash his hands because he had been shaking hands with Arabs all day.’
Boland has named three companies, McLaren Group Limited, Absolute Taste and Greyscape, for the charges which also include him getting sacked just because the usual company rumor said he was gay.
He claims that after two male colleagues made an unwanted pass at him, news of the proposition reached Mr Dennis, and that led to his dismissal from his £32,000-a-year post at McLaren company Absolute Taste.
Boland declined a £8,000 settlement package and appealed to the tribunal. McLaren has declined to comment on the incident.
