Ace golfer Tiger Woods commented on the controversy involving his caddie Steve Williams and Ryder Cup colleague Phil Mickelson for the first time. Although Tiger acknowledges Williams was wrong, he stills keeps him by his side.
“I was disappointed to read the comments attributed to Steve Williams about Phil Mickelson, a player that I respect,” Woods said in a statement. “It was inappropriate. The matter has been discussed and dealt with.”
Just a few days ago, Steve called Mickelson a ‘p***k’ and told an incident about a spectator mocking at the golfer during the U.S. Open this year. Phil declined the incident and said that Williams made it up on the lines of a similar thing happening to a European player in 2002.
After a lot of speculations, Tiger made it clear that his bag-man of almost ten years will still be on the job.
“I talked to Stevie about it, and he feels bad, what happened. It’s something that none of us really wanted to have happen, but it’s over and done with and we put it to bed.
“He’ll be on the bag.”
Tiger will be on the greens for the Chevron World Challenge tournament in just two days.
