Denver Nuggets star guard Allen Iverson has been traded to Detroit Pistons for Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb, reports say. The deal is in principal currently and has been notified to the NBA officials.

It seems like no one was expecting this before the rumors started to float this morning.

“No, I didn’t (see it coming),” Rasheed Wallace said after the Pistons’ shoot-around Monday. “Everybody is shocked. If it happens, we’ll just have to roll with the punches. It’s part of the business.”

While Pistons boss Joe Dumars wanted a good moving player in the team to tackle teams like Celtics, there are reports of some cost-cutting going on in Denver. Even Allen wanted to move to Detroit.

On the other hand, Chauncey Billups knew he’ll have to move out. He told Dumars that if he’s moving out… he would love to go back home in Denver. Other players Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb are reported not to be happy about the deal. Nuggets are planning to buy out the remainder of Antonio’s contract.

“From Chauncey’s point of view, its kind of a mixed bag of feelings,” his agent Andy Miller said. “He feels very good about what he’s done in Detroit, the legacy he has left. And coming back home to Denver, it’s sort of like coming full circle for him.”

Pistons are expected to be save almost $36 million over the next three seasons because of the deal.

Meanwhile, they are getting a top of the league guard in Allen Iverson. He was the No.1 pick of the 1996 draft for 76ers and was the MVP in 2000 and 2001. His career average of 27.7 points per game is third-best in the history of NBA.
