Marion lost out to Vera Zvonareva 6-0, 6-1 in the semi-finals of the Generali Ladies tournament in Austria. She was one of the favorites to meet top-seed Ana Ivanovic in the finals.

Marion Bartoli Biography

As a biography, Marion Bartoli was born on October 2, 1984 in Le Puy-en-Velay, Auvergne so her age is 24. She started playing professional tennis since the age of 16 and has been a hard-hitting and aggressive player since then. She won the junior US Open title in 2001, beating Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final game. At that time, she was ranked 3 in the junior players.

Bartoli won her first senior title at ASB Classic in Auckland at the age of 21. She beat Vera Zvonareva 6–2, 6–2 in the finals. She also won the ECM Prague Open in May, 2006. The high point of her career came when she produced the biggest upset in the Wimbledon history by beating Justine Henin in the semifinal of the 2007 Wimbledon Championships. She was beaten by Venus Williams in the finals.

Marion has been ranked as high as 9th in the world. She is currently ranked 17th overall and is the highest ranked French female player. Her career prize money stands at $3,125,311 and she has 3 WTA, 1 ITF titles to her name.
