New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was disciplined by the team and did not start in this weekend’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. See video about Plaxico Burress below.
Talk about rough times for New York Giants star wideout Plaxico Burress. First, he was suspended for two weeks and fined $117,000 by the team. Then, he was fined $45,000 by the NFL. Now, he’s held from the starting lineup by the Giants. Ouch.
Burress missed neck treatments last week, and was benched for the start of the game. Apparently, the Giants considered suspending him. Burress said:
“I practiced on Friday and I felt fine and got treatment Friday at the stadium. After I practiced, I thought I was in the clear. I felt good, but I guess I was supposed to come up here and get treatment.”
On Burress missing the treatment, Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said:
“I’m disappointed in that. You’ve got to be a member of the team. You’ve got to follow the regulations and rules of the team.”
In a game that the Giants won 21-14 over the Steelers, backup Domenik Hixon started in Burress’ place. Unsure when he would see action, the wide out started getting time on the field in the second quarter. He finished the game with 3 catches for 15 yards.
