Isiah Thomas reportedly overdosed on sleeping pills, and police were called to his home around midnight last night. According to the New York Daily News, Thomas took 10 Lunesta sleeping pills. Harrison Police Chief David Hall said that he was unconscious but “breathing on his own”. He was taken to White Plains Hospital around midnight.

Police escorted an SUV back to Thomas’ home late Friday afternoon, and Barry Watkins, spokesman for Madison Square Garden, said that “Isiah is fine.”

This past year has not been a good one for Thomas. At Knicks games, you could hear the crowd chanting “Fire isiah!” He was “reassigned” by the Knicks in April after having a 23-59 season, and who could forget his involvement in the sexual harassment lawsuit brought on by Anucha Browne Sanders, where she was awarded $11.6 million.

Before his stint with the Knicks, he was head coach for the Indiana Pacers from 2000-2003. His over 13 years in the NBA as a point guard for the Detroit Pistons garnered him two NBA championships – in 1989 and 1990.
