Reggie Bush injury

October 20, 2008

After injuring his knee in Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush is likely out for for 3-4 weeks. See video and photos of Reggie Bush below.

Reggie Bush injured the meniscus in his left knee while returning a punt late in the first half in the Saints game against the Carolina panthers. Saints coach Sean Payton said:

“The plan is to scope it. We’ll have this week and then the bye week and we’ll see where he’s at. I’ll probably know something [Monday]. Right now, we’re going to have to evaluate it and go from there.”

Reggie Bush saw Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala, for his surgery. The injury has caused Bush to miss the Saints game this weekend in London against the San Diego Chargers. Said coach Payton:

“I think our plan is to have him evaluated in Birmingham, right from here, so he won’t make the trip.”

Prior to leaving the game, Bush had racked up 55 yards on nine carries, caught one pass for 5 yards, and had a 3.5 average on three punt returns against the Panthers. Coach Payton said the team became “one-demensional” after Bush left the game, which is what led to their 30-7 loss.

Due to the Saints upcoming schedule, Reggie Bush may only miss one or two games. After this Sunday’s game in London, New Orleans has a bye week. However, it will not be known how long Bush will be out until after the surgery is completed.

So far this season, the former USC running back has rushed for 294 yards on 87 carries with 2 touchdowns. Receiving, he has 366 yards on 42 receptions with 3 touchdowns. He’s fumbled the ball three times, two of which resulted in a turnover.
