Hillary Duff, who is the girlfriend of Canadian professional ice hockey player Mike Comrie, has teamed up with the Ad Council and the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network to encourage people, specially teenagers, to stop using the phrase ‘That’s So Gay’.
In new television spots, teen girls are shown shopping for clothes, and one of the girls calls a top “gay.” Enter Hilary Duff.
“When you say ‘that’s so gay,’ do you realize what you say? Knock it off,” Duff tells the teen.
The campaign (watch the video below) is aimed towards making people be respectful towards the homosexuals.
Duff says, “Nobody says it meaning to hurt someone’s feelings but it can really make an impact on someone.”
You can check out the official website for more ‘influential’ videos.
Meanwhile, Duff has denied the rumors that she is engaged to boyfriend Comrie. The rumors started when she was spotted wearing a ring recently.
While attending the St. Jude 5th Annual Runway for Life Benefit, Hilary was asked whether she was engaged and she said, “I am not.”
Hillary and Mike have been dating for more than a year now.
