As he continues to expand his empire, LA Galaxy star David Beckham is moving into the world of publishing with a series of children’s books.

Adding to his fragrance line and various sponsorships, soccer star and all around hottie David Beckham is launching a series of children’s books aimed at 7 year olds. While publishers are saying David won’t personally be penning them, they will feature “tips, a pull-out tactics board and statistics on the game.” The currently untitled first book in the series is scheduled for release in June 2009.

A rep for Beckham says:

“The David Beckham Academy is more than just David’s dream of giving children the chance to experience great football coaching, it exists to encourage all aspects of their learning and development. David is particularly pleased that The Academy has inspired a series of books that will bring children to reading through football.”

The David Beckham Academy is currently open in London and Los Angeles, both launched in 2005. It aims to engage children through on-field and classroom soccer education, and also discusses nutrition and human anatomy through training sessions and challenges. Beckham has plans to expand his Academy to Asia and South America in the future.
