Katja Nyberg Is Handball Player

Meet Katja Nyberg, a Norwegian professional handball player who was part of the gold-winning Norway National Team during the recently concluded 2008 Beijing Olympics. See photos, video and a biography of Katja Nyberg here.

Katja recently scored no less than 9 goals in Danish club Ikast’s 38-29 win over Bratislava in the group stages of EHF Women’s Champions League. She has been consistently scoring in the League and is a top contender for the Highest Scorer title.

Katja Nyberg Biography

As a biography, Katja Nyberg was born on August 24, 1979 in Stockholm, Sweden so her age is 29. She is the daughter of Robert Nyberg, the first Finnish handball player to play abroad professionally.

Katja was the member of the two-time European Championship winning Norway team in 2004 and 2006. She also won the World Women’s Handball Championship silver medal in 2007 and was voted the Most Valuable Player in the tournament. But, her most memorable win was in Bejing Olympics when Norway beat Russia in the finals to win the coveted gold medal.

Nyberg is a self-proclaimed lesbian and has been in a relationship with fellow teammate and captain of the Norway National Team Gro Hammerseng, for a long time now. Her all time record for Norway stands at 321 goals in 99 international matches.
