Smith scored a fine goal just 13 minutes before the end time of a recent match between England and Spain which ended in a 2-2 draw. Her performance earned England a place in the Euro Championships 2009 in Finland.
As a biography, Kelly Smith was born on 29 October 1978 in Watford so her age is 29. She attended the Seton Hall University, New Jersey and set numerous records at the Big East Conference. She was the first female athlete to be chosen as the Newcomer Of The year.
Kelly was drafted by Philadelphia Charge in 2000 and she stayed there till 2003. She was later a part of the New Jersey Wildcats team in the W-League. But, her most memorable stint has been with Arsenal Ladies only. She helped her team clinch the Premier League title in 2004-05 season and then emulated the same level of performance in the 2006-07 season, scoring almost 30 goals.
Smith was a part of the English National Team from the age of 16. She was called ‘The Best Player In The World’ by Dutch coach Vera Pauw, when she scored a hat-trick against Holland in World Cup qualifiers in 2006. She scored four goals in the 2007 World Cup in China for England.
The striker has been awarded the Women’s International Player of the Year title in 2005 and a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2008 Birthday Honors. Her all time career record for England stands at 27 goals in 71 appearances.
