Tamsyn was involved in a big controversy in 2004, when she was shooting for the Ralph magazine while her preparations for the Athens Olympics were underway.
She was also involved in a public feud with fellow runner Jana Pittman in February 2006. She beat Pittman in the 2006 Commonwealth Games trials after the latter challenged her on radio.
As a biography, Tamsyn Lewis was born on July 20, 1978 in Melbourne, Victoria so her age is 30. She attended Caulfield Grammar School. Her mother was a six-time National High jump champion and her father was a semi-finalist in the Mexico City Olympic Games. She started her international professional career at the age of 15. Her measurements are 34-24-32.
Tamsyn won a bronze medal in the 1996 World Junior Championships in Sydney. She won the 800m event in the National Championships and then contributed to Australia’s gold-medal finish in the 400m relay in the 1998 Commonwealth Games. She missed out in competing in the finals of the 2000 Olympics.
Lewis staged a major upset in the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships, held in Valencia, Spain, beating champion runner Maria de Lurdes Mutola for the 800m crown.
Lewis was shocked herself saying “I was wondering what I was doing out there. Then I realized that I could win the race. This is amazing. I still can’t believe it.”
Besides her sprinting career, Lewis has worked for Triple M, a radio station in Australia. She also appeared in Dancing with the Stars with Arsen Kishishian in 2006, finishing third. Her magazine apeareances include FHM, Inside Sport, Ultra Fit and Ralph. Tamsyn is said to be the ‘pin-up girl of the Australian athletics’.
She was voted the ‘Sexiest Babe in Melbourne’ by the radio station Nova 100.
