Hestrie Cloete Is A High Jumper

Hestrie won the title because of exceptional performance in 2003. She was elected the winner in the poll organized by Track & Field News magazine.

Hestrie Cloete Biography

As a biography, Hestrie Cloete was born on August 26, 1978 in Germiston, South Africa so her age is 30. She attended Lichenburg High School and was spotted by coach Martin Marx at the age of 13.

Hestrie set numerous records during the peak of her career between 1998 to 2003. She set almost thirteen African and five Commonwealth records in this time. She won the African Championships in 2004 and World Championships in 2003. She is also a silver medalist in the 2004 Athens Olympics. Hestrie won the World Cup in 2002.

She was awarded the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver (OIS) by South African president Thabo Mbeki for her contribution to sports in South Africa.

Her personal best in high jump has been 2.06 meters.

Cloete retired in 2004 to give time to her family. She has one daughter.
