Kateryna is a one time doubles champion at the Australian Open. Her elder sister Alyona Bondarenko also plays on the tour.
As a biography, Kateryna Bondarenko was born on 8th August 1986 in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine so her age is 22. She started playing tennis at the age of 4 and turned professional in 2000.
Kateryna, who plays right-handed, has played almost 15 WTA tournaments. She was the champion of the 2008 DFS Classic, beating Yanina Wickmayer in the finals. Her win over Ashley Harkleroad in the first round of the recently concluded Bank of the West Classic tournament was a classic piece of victory, signaling the arrival of a world champion in the making.
But, her most famous win, which brought Kateryna into the limelight, will always be the one over Ana Ivanović during the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix held in Stuttgart, Germany. She eventually lost out in the quarters.
Bondarenko sisters, Kateryna and Alyona, defeated the 12th-seeded pair of Victoria Azarenka and Shahar Peer in the finals of the 2008 Australian Open. The pair also won the 2008 Paris Gaz de France.
Kateryna is currently ranked 54th in the world. Her career record stands at 176–131 and she has one WTA and two ITF titles to her name.
