Meet Stephanie Gilmore, an Australian professional surfer who is said to be the one to watch out for in the future women’s surfing scene. See photos, video and a biography of Stephanie Gilmore here.

Stephanie qualified for the the 2007 Foster’s ASP Women’s World Tour after her phenomenal success on the WQS Tour and claimed the title, only as a teenager.

As a biography, Stephanie Gilmore was born on January 29, 1988 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales so her age is just 20. Her parents are Jeff and Tracy Gilmore and she has two sisters, Whitney and Bonnie.

Gilmore started surfing at the age of 10 and by 17, she was taking part in all the professional competitions. Her first notable win was at the 2005 Roxy Pro Gold Coast as a wildcard entry and then she repeated her feat at the 2006 Havaianas Beachley Classic. She beat former world champion Sofia Mulanovich for the coveted title in 2007 in the final Billabong Pro event of the Foster’s ASP tour.

Besides surfing, Stephanie likes to play guitar and skydive. Her favourite waves are Greenmount, Macaronis, Honolua Bay and she is sponsored by Rip Curl Wetsuits and Clothing.
