Jelena came to the limelight in 1999, when she beat the then world’s top player Martina Hingis 6–2, 6–0, in the first round of the Wimbledon.
As a biography, Jelena Dokic was born on April 12, 1983 in Osijek, Croatia so her age is 25. She had to run away from her home country during the civil war and then took shelter in Australia at the age of 11.
Other than her famous Wimbledon win, her other major wins include beating Kim Clijsters at the 2003 Zürich Open and Venus Williams at the 2000 Italian Open. She also reached the semifinals of the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
At the height of her career, her ranking was world no.4, but due to some family difficulties she slipped down to the present 187th.
Jelena has been a regular on the Ace magazine’s 10 Sexiest Female Tennis Stars and was also featured in the FHM magazine’s 100 Sexiest Australian Women in 2001.
